Leeds United and Sheffield United battling it out for Shrewsbury Town midfielder

Leeds United and Sheffield United are both interested in a summer move for Shrewsbury Town midfielder Jon Nolan, as per a report by HITC Sport.

The 25 year-old has been in fine form for Shrewsbury Town in League One. Championship side Norwich City are also said to be keen on him.

He joined the Shrews in the summer from Chesterfield and has proven to be a huge signing for them. He has been pivotal in their rise to 2nd in the league under Paul Hurst. However, they will face a battle in holding onto him at the end of the season.

Leeds United are one club keeping tabs on him. Their new manager, Paul Heckingbottom, will be looking to put his own stamp on his squad in the summer through some signings and he may see Nolan as a potential acquisition to help bolster his midfield.

Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United will also reportedly rival them for Nolan. The Blades have had a decent season under Chris Wilder in this campaign and are on the brink of the Play-Offs.

Nolan started his career at Everton but was released by the Premier League side in 2011. He then signed for Stockport County and played for them for two seasons until he was snapped up by Lincoln City in 2013.

He played 75 times for the Imps before he was signed by Paul Hurst for Grimsby in 2015. He helped them win promotion to the Football League but left in the summer of 2016 to join Chesterfield. He re-united with Hurst in the summer but could be set to move on again with Championship clubs on red alert.
