Former fans’ favourite long odds on for Stevenage job

Former Stevenage striker and assistant manager Dino Maamria is the red hot favourite to become the club’s new manager according to the latest odds from English Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

The 46-year-old Tunisian born boss is currently the manager of National League North club Nuneaton Town where he has overseen a huge turnover in the club’s fortunes.

Former club Stevenage are currently looking for a new manager after sacking former boss Darren Sarll on Sunday and according to the latest odds from English Football League sponsors Sky Bet, Maamria is currently as short as 1/8 to land the job at The Lamex Stadium.

Maamria made 107 appearances for Boro during three spells as a player in which he netted 38 goals. The physical frontman went on to spend over three years as a coach with the club before later returning to The Lamex Stadium in an assistant manager role to legendary boss Graham Westley.

Westley himself is listed as the second favourite for the Stevenage job after being sacked by the club’s Sky Bet League Two rivals Barnet. Should Maamria not be appointed manager, there is a chance that he could team up with Westley once again and work under the twice crowned promotion winner as his assistant.
