Leeds United scout watches French top-tier sides

Leeds United, freshly taken over by Andrea Radrizzani, showed more than a spurt of transfer activity over last summer with a plethora of signings arriving.

The signings, for both the first-team and revamped Under-23 side, stopped at 16 and gave Whites fans something that they hadn’t been used to – a sense of ambition. Performance-wise, it’s been somewhat of a mixed bag with Samu Saiz topping the list of impressive performances, and Gjianni Alioski also impressing. On the flip side, players such as Pawel Cibicki and Mateusz Klich haven’t really grabbed the attention.

There has also been much criticism of the transfer direction itself, a direction driven by Victor Ortiz – the Whites’ Director Of Football. Whilst it is a system that has unearthed gleaming gold like Saiz, it is also one that has added plenty of iron pyrites.

Fans are critical of the system, but that hasn’t stopped them wanting more incomings next season – albeit of a better level. It is also criticism that hasn’t stopped the club looking, according to a recent report by reputable Twitter account Scouts in Attendance (below).

The game itself finished 5-2 to Nice, with Allasane Plea knocking in an impressive four goals. As the above tweet mentions, United were once said interested in Guignamp striker Yannis Salibur but there is no mention of who they might have been there watching. With four goals today, and 10 for the season, United fans might be hoping he’s the target – although his reputation and value would likely price him out of an Elland Road move.
