Aston Villa showing interest in signing Bristol City star

Aston Villa are interested in signing Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan, according to the Sun.

A move for Bryan to Villa Park could depend on whether they are promoted to the Premier League this season or not.

Villa boss Steve Bruce is believed to be a big fan of the 24 year-old. He has been a key player for the Robins this season and has helped Lee Johnson’s side get within touching distance of the Play-Offs.

It appears likely that Bryan could leave Bristol City in the summer. Premier League sides Everton and Newcastle United are also being credited with an interest. Bryan is highly-rated by the Robins and it would take a big transfer fee to lure him away from Ashton Gate.

He started his career at Bristol City and has gone on to play over 200 games for his hometown club since making his debut for them in March 2012. He has had loan spells at Bath City and Plymouth Argyle in the past but since become their first choice left-back.

He would be a decent coup by Aston Villa, should they get promoted. The Midlands side are just outside the top two and are flying under Steve Bruce. The former Hull City and Birmingham City boss knows what it takes to get teams out of the Championship and his side will have Wolves and Cardiff City nervously looking over their shoulders.

The rumours for next season have started for Aston Villa. Their fans will be hoping they will be seeing top flight football at Villa Park again in the next campaign.
