No one thought any manager could have success at Leeds due to the, let’s call it unique, ownership at the club. Monk proved that wrong. His team for the majority of the season was phenomenal with the defensive partnership of Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson being one of the best duos in the Championship that year.
However things would go wrong towards the end of the season. They suffered a dip in form which saw them slowly drop down the table and with Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday being able to improve their form at the right time, the Whites just missed out on a spot in the play-offs. Despite fans hopes that Monk would stay at Elland Road, he decided to resign as head coach which was apparently a shock to everyone involved in the club.
