Ex-Birmingham City, Cardiff City and QPR midfielder joins Vancouver Whitecaps

Former Birmingham City, Cardiff City and QPR midfielder Jordon Mutch has joined Vancouver Whitecaps on loan.

The 26 year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Crystal Palace and has swapped for the Premier League for the MLS by joining the Canadian based side.

He becomes the latest player to make the move from Britain to America. We have seen the likes of Wolves duo Jack Price and Joe Mason move to Colorado Rapids, Johnny Russell to Sporting Kansas City and most recently Sheffield Wednesday’s James Murphy to Los Angeles City.

Mutch spent the latter part of last season on loan to Reading in the Championship having fallen out of favour at Crystal Palace. He was heavily linked with a move to Burton Albion in the summer but remained with the South London side, even though his chances would be hard to come by.

He is a proven player at Championship level and it is a bit of a shock to see him move to the MLS. However, the opportunity of moving to the MLS is a interesting one for any footballer.

Mutch started his career at Birmingham City before moving to Cardiff City in 2012. He helped the Bluebirds get promoted to the Premier League in 2013 but could not prevent them from being relegated the season after. He left them for QPR but spent just 6 months at Loftus Road before being snapped up by Crystal Palace.

The move to Palace has not worked out for Jordan Mutch but this loan move to Vancouver Whitecaps is one where he gets the chance to impress in the MLS.
