Championship, 5 biggest flops of the Championship this season

5 biggest flops of the Championship this season

There has been a number of players who were signed by Championship clubs but have disappointed so far. Here are 5 signings from the summer who have been flops-

Martin Braithwaite- Middlesbrough paid £10 million to sign the Denmark international in the summer from Toulouse. However, he managed just 5 goals in the Championship and could not get in the team past Britt Assombalonga. He was then shipped out on loan back to France to join Bordeaux.

Ashley Fletcher- Another summer signing by Middlesbrough, who signed the 22 year-old from West Ham United for £6.5 million despite him not being proven in the Championship yet. He scored a single goal for the Riverside club and was loaned out to relegation threatened Sunderland in January.

Jota- There was a lot of excitement amongst Birmingham City fans when they forked out a club-record £6 million fee to sign Jota from Brentford. However, he has only scored 2 goals for them in 21 games and has not been able to prevent them from slipping into relegation danger.

Jordan Rhodes- He has proven himself to be one of the most prolific strikers in the Championship but over the past season or two he has been finding it hard to score goals. Sheffield Wednesday signed him for around £10 million in the summer after his loan there last season but he has only managed 4 goals for them since.

Mateusz Klich- The Poland international joined Leeds United in the summer from FC Twente but failed to make an impact at Elland Road. He played just 3 league games for the Whites and was loaned back to Holland with FC Utrecht in January, leaving his career in England hanging by a thread.
