Premier League side Watford keeping tabs on Sunderland star

Watford have joined the race for Sunderland striker Joel Asoro, according to the Watford Observer.

The 18 year-old has burst onto the scene at the Stadium of Light this season and has been attracting attention from the likes of French giants PSG and Arsenal.

Watford are now apparently the latest club to be linked with him. The young striker is being tipped for a big future in the game and is currently fighting to help Sunderland avoid relegation to League One at the moment.

The Swedish striker has broken into Sunderland’s first-team this season and has played 17 games for them so far this campaign, scoring 2 goals. He will have a big part to play for the Black Cats if they are to stay up.

Asoro’s performances has been a positive for Sunderland in what has been a dreadful season for them. They will now face a big battle to hold onto him in the summer, even if they do stay in the Championship.

As a youngster, Asoro played for local sides IFK Haninge and IF Brommapojkarna before being brought to England by Sunderland in 2015. He has represented Sweden at U19 and most recently U21 level and many are predicting he will make his debut for their senior side in the near future.

Asoro is one of the brightest young talents in the Championship but will no doubt be the subject of interest from many in the summer. Premier League side Watford are the latest club to show an interest, but you would expect many more clubs to join the race for him as well.
