Reactions from the Pirelli Stadium as Millwall edge victory

Burton Albion head coach Nigel Clough had said that he thought they played well in this game but missed that most crucial of things, a goal.

He told the club website: “I don’t know how we have lost. The performance today was very good indeed.”

“We have created enough chances and situations to have won two games today against a team in form. They have ended up scoring from a fluke of a goal where we have headed it onto their lad and it’s rolled into the corner. Then you think of all the balls sliced across their penalty area and not one dropped to a yellow shirt.”

“That seems to be how it is going for us but in terms of the performance no problems with that at all. I thought we were very good at times in difficult conditions.”

“Tom Naylor had probably the best chance of the second half at the far post. Darren Bent had a couple of opportunities. The whole team just needs one of them to drop and go in.”

“But the level and consistency of the performances has been very good for the last five games and we were better today than in the second half at Barnsley. We just need somebody to get us a goal – that’s all.”

“We got Liam Boyce on and Luke Varney to get another striker on just to see if a ball would drop for us in the penalty area but it didn’t.”
