5 Championship midfielders out of contract in the summer

You may be surprised at some of the midfielders in the Championship who are out of contract in the summer. Here are 5 who as it stands are set to leave on free transfers-

Joe Ledley- The Wales international joined Derby County in August following his release by Crystal Palace at the end of last season. However, he only joined the Rams on a short-term contract which was extended until the end of the season. It is yet to be known where he will be next season.

Aron Gunnarsson- He has been a great servant for Cardiff City but has expressed his desire to leave them at the expiry of his contract. He will be going to the World Cup this summer with Iceland in Russia and it is likely that he will be going as a free agent.

David Meyler- The 28 year-old has played for Hull City since 2013 and is currently their longest serving player. His contract at the KCOM Stadium expires at the end of the season and it is yet to be established whether or not he will be offered a new deal. There is no doubt there will be clubs looking into this one.

Alex Tettey- The Norwegian midfielder’s contract at Norwich expires in the summer. He has played for them since 2012 and has played over 150 games for the Canaries. He has previously played for Rosenburg and Rennes and has established himself in England.

Grant Leadbitter- The experienced midfielder could leave Middlesbrough for free in the summer and would be a decent free signing for another Championship outfit.
