The January transfer window has been exciting and has seen many arrivals and departures from League One clubs. Here are the top five January transfer window signings in League One –

Jack Payne, Blackburn Rovers –  The attacking midfielder joined League One side Oxford United on loan at the start of the 2017/18 campaign, on a season-long loan. However, Huddersfield have cut his loan spell short and exercised the recall clause in his contract. The 23-year-old has made 33 appearances and scored seven goals for Oxford United this season. Payne has played a key part in their attack, contributing 19 goals overall for the club, since joining on loan in July.

Connor Ripley, Bury – Ripley spent last season on loan at Oldham Athletic, equalling a Latics’ record of 18 clean sheets, collected 3 awards at their End of Season Awards evening and was named in the League One Team of the Year. Previously,  Connor moved North of the border for the 2015/2016 season, playing 40 games for Motherwell, as the Steelmen finished 5th in the Scottish Premier League.

Eoin Doyle, Oldham Athletic – Doyle flourished at Boundary Park in the first half of the season, scoring 14 goal in 21 appearances for the Latics in his first spell at the club. Although, a blood clot diagnosed last month means he will be unavailable for the League One side until March.

Toumani Diagouraga, Fleetwood – Town have fought off competition from a number of clubs in the Championship and League One for the signature of the 30-year-old, who has been in outstanding form for Argyle this season. Diagouraga played under head coach Uwe Rosler whilst at Brentford, and has enjoyed successful spells at Leeds United, Portsmouth and Ipswich Town in recent years.

James Vaughan, Wigan – The 29-year-old joins after a frustrating half-season on Wearside since joining last summer from Bury for £500,000. But his 24 goals in 36 games last term for the Shakers proves he knows where the net is in League One, and he will add to boss Paul Cook’s attacking options.
