Earlier today Leeds United put up a report that recent purchase Tyler Roberts was out injured for an “extended period,” largely due to an incident in training. It was news that didn’t go down well with fans.
The article put out by Leeds indicated that the young Wales star will be absent for an “extended period” and further mentions, and clarifies, that the club are awaiting comment and prognosis of another injury. They say that “initial scans” have indicated that the 19-year-old “has a small crack on his shin” and that it is this which will determine “a timescale for Tyler’s return to action.”
Roberts arrived at Elland Road in the throes of the last moments of the January transfer window, the deal being concluded on Deadline Day. However, he arrived ‘injured’ with then boss Thomas Christiansen saying that he’d been undergoing treatment for a ‘kick injury’, although that seems to be more serious now.
Indeed, after Leeds United published the news, and after fans had tweeted their responses, Roberts himself tweeted the following about his injury.

One thing that Leeds United fans have is patience, plenty of it – in frankness they’ve needed it over these past, lean years. The fact that Roberts has reached out to the fans hasn’t gone unnoticed, with many commenting on his original message.

Your time will come Tyler, talking to a WBA fan on holiday and he really rates you. When you score your first goal for us look up top left of Kop and give Leeds salute to Morley whites. Best wishes, Brian.

With no news on the extent of the “extended period” of his injury, Leeds United fans will be hoping that the term ‘extended’ falls down on the shorter end of that rather than becoming a ‘prolonged’ period of time out.
