Popular Birmingham City winger Jacques Maghoma has extended his stay at St Andrews by signing a new long term deal with the club according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 30-year-old DR Congo international wideman has been one real positive from a turbulent campaign so far for the Sky Bet Championship club.

Maghoma has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Blues this term while he has weighed in with four goals. It has been his overall performances which have been the most pleasing aspect of his game with the midfielder having impressed in several of his outings.

With Maghoma in good form, it has been reported that Birmingham City have moved to retain the player’s services for the long term and the winger has now signed a two-and-a-half year contract extension with the club until summer 2020.

The news provides Birmingham City with a real boost, particularly with the club still some way from retaining their status as a second tier club. Maghoma has recently made his 100th appearance for the Blues and his experience could be vital in the future.

The player failed to make the grade at the Tottenham Hotspur academy as a youngster and dropped down to Sky Bet League Two to relaunch his career with Burton Albion. After impressing at the Pirelli Stadium, Maghoma was snapped up by Sheffield Wednesday where he spent two years before joining current club Birmingham City.
