West Ham United showing interest in Fulham defender

West Ham United are showing an interest in signing Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks in the summer, according to FutNSoccer.

The report suggests that the Hammers are close to agreeing a deal for the defender. His contract with Fulham expires in the summer meaning he is free to leave for nothing. However, how close this move is is yet to be established.

Fredericks has been in impressive form for Fulham over the past couple of seasons. He has been an integral part of Slavisa Jokanovic’s side who got to the Championship Play-Offs last season and are hoping to take that one step further this campaign and get promotion to the Premier League.

He is certainly a player who will want to play at the top level and you would think he is reluctant to sign a contract at Fulham unless they do get promoted. He has been linked with a move away from Fulham in the past. Premier League side Swansea City were reportedly interested in him in the January transfer window but it is now West Ham who look to be leading the race for him.

The 25 year-old started his career at Tottenham Hotspur but never managed to break into their first-team. He gained playing time during loan stints at Middlesbrough, Millwall and Brentford. He left Spurs to join Bristol City but left them after just 26 days to join Fulham.

Fredericks is one of the best right-backs in the Championship and he is one who Fulham fans will be praying signs a new contract, with West Ham now showing an interest.
