Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom was not happy about how his team started on the back foot but was pleased with the way they got themselves back in the game.

He told the club website: “I would’ve liked to have got something out of the game,”

“We were on the back foot after the first two minutes, Sheffield United, especially at home, are one of the best teams in the league at building momentum.”

“They play forward and gained territory down the sides with throw-ins, they got into crossing areas, put the ball in the box and scored, which put us on the back foot.”

“We had to change that at half time, they continually played forwards and we continually turned round and invited pressure, in the second half we played forwards more, were on the front foot and created more chances as a consequence.”

“It was disappointing how we started the game, sometimes you concede goals and teams cut you open, but it was a hustle and bustle type goal, they gained territory and put the ball in the box.”

“I’ve not seen the penalty decision back, but the lads are upset in the dressing room which makes me think it is harsh, but I might watch it back and feel differently.”

“If we have the energy that we had in the second half, we will be okay, but I don’t want to just rely on moments of quality.”

“We have quality in the team, but at times we may have to grind out a result.”

“We may have to go in front, know how to defend and play on the counter or go in front and then keep scoring goals because of the pressure that we can create, it is all about adding different things to our game.”
