Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are set to battle it out to sign Sunderland midfielder Ethan Robson in the summer, according to the Sun.

The 21 year-old could be available for just £150,000 in the summer and this has left Celtic and Rangers on red alert.

Ethan Robson has broken into the Sunderland first-team this season and has made 5 appearances for the North-East club. He is highly rated at the Stadium of Light and he is one who they will not want to lose in the summer.

Sunderland are currently battling against relegation to League One and this transfer rumour is not going to help their cause. Robson could have a big role to play for Chris Coleman’s side for the rest of the season with injuries and the decision to loan midfielder Didier N’Dong to Watford in the transfer window.

It is not often that Celtic and Rangers battle it out for a player. If the rumours are true and both of them are after Robson, he will have a tough choice on his hands as to which side of Glasgow takes his fancy. Rangers have been busy over the past the month or so as they look to bring a whole host of new players to Ibrox under Graeme Murty, whereas Celtic are top of the league and will see Robson as one for the future.

Robson is from Sunderland and has been one of the brightest young players to have come up through their academy in recent years. He is one they will not want to lose.
