Referee announced for Derby County’s clash with Norwich City

The referee had been announced for the Championship meeting of Derby County and Norwich City this weekend. The man in the middle will be Jeremy Simpson for Saturday afternoon’s kick-off.

This will be the 29th game that Simpson will have taken charge of this season. Whilst it is the first Derby County game he will officiate this term, he has been the man in the middle on four other occasions. The last one being a 4-2 win over Fulham at the tail-end of last season.

It is a significant game for Derby with Aston Villa beginning to apply genuine pressure on the second placed team. Villa have a pivotal derby game with Birmingham City on Sunday lunchtime, so Gary Rowett’s side will be hopeful of putting some daylight between themselves and Steve Bruce’s side.

Norwich are looking increasingly unlikely to land a promotion play-off spot, but, a win for Daniel Farke’s side with be a significant coup and a huge boost for the Canaries who currently lie in 13th place.

Derby are likely to be without the services of Bradley Johnson and Kyle McAlister who are recovering from back and groin injuries respectively. Norwich meanwhile have their own injury worries, including a back injury to Wes Hoolahan, who announced his retirement from the Republic of Ireland side on Thursday.

Saturday’s game at the iPro Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
