Despite the loss, Burton head coach Nigel Clough has said he was happy with the way his team played in this thriller.
He told the club website: “It was as good a performance as we have put in all season. Four days ago was one of the worst performances for some time so this was a brilliant achievement especially considering that Aston Villa are such a good team on such a good run. We feel very aggrieved not to be coming away with a win.”
“We probably hit rock bottom on Tuesday night in terms of the result and performance. We tried to wipe it away as much as we could and start afresh with the way we want to play. Today shows how we want to play for the remaining games.”
