West Ham United plotting late swoop for Cardiff City star

West Ham United are being linked with a shock late swoop for Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side are in the hunt for another centre-back due to an increasingly long injury list at the London Stadium. Their boss David Moyes sees Bamba as an ideal signing.

However, this move is unlikely. Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock is a huge fan of the Ivorian and he is a crucial part of his team. Only an outrageous offer will lure him to London.

The 33 year-old centre-back has been in fine form for the Bluebirds this season. Since joining them last season, he has been a huge player for them and has strengthened their back line. His form has helped them maintain their Play-Off place in this campaign and he will be priceless to them in their promotion push.

He is a vastly experienced defender who has played over 300 games in his career. This rumour linking him to West Ham is a shock one considering Bamba has never played in the Premier League before.

Bamba started his career at PSG before swapping Paris for Scotland by signing with Dunfermline Athletic. He then had a spell at Hibernian before moving to Leicester City. Bamba spent a season with the Foxes before stints at Trapzonspor and Palermo.

He came back to England in 2015 when he joined Leeds United and then was brought to Cardiff by Neil Warnock. Cardiff fans should take these West Ham rumours with a pinch of salt.
