Millwall complete deal for Wolves winger

Millwall have completed a deal to sign Ben Marshall on loan from Wolves until the end of the season as confirmed by the club website.

The 26-year-old winger, who can also play as a right-back, signed for Wolves on transfer deadline day last year as they looked to revitalise a season that had gone very flat. This time around though the Black Country side are rolling and sit on the top of the Sky Bet Championship but Marshall is not a big part of it. He has only made nine appearances for the club this season and this led to reports that he would be leaving during this transfer window.

And a year to the date he joined Wolves, he last the club on loan after penning a deal with Millwall that will keep him there until the end of the season. The Lions have been busy towards the end of this transfer window and hit headlines when they brought Tim Cahill back to the club earlier in the week. And now they will be happy after getting another big name signing with Marshall joining the club.

After the completion of this signing, Millwall head coach Neil Harris said: “I’m delighted with the targets we’ve managed to get through the door. I think we’ve done really sensible business,”

“We’ve brought four players in that are all hungry to be involved. They’re different sorts of players, from young Harry [Toffolo] up to the experience of Timmy [Cahill] and Shacks [Jason Shackell], with Ben in the middle.”

“Ben’s a really good age and has been frustrated with his lack of opportunities at Wolves. All four players come with excellent pedigree and character references. They aren’t perhaps ready to go straight into the starting XI, but we’ll work with them and they’ll all have an impact on the team between now and the end of the season.”

“With Ben, his pedigree is huge. He has experience at this level and his assists and set-plays will be key. With Aiden O’Brien being out for six weeks and maybe longer, it’s vital we have that strength in depth in the squad.”
