Wigan Athletic make late move for Liverpool winger

Wigan Athletic are making a late move to sign Liverpool’s Harry Wilson on loan according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

The Latics have been brilliant this season and are currently on top of Sky Bet League One. But their place at the summit is not certain with their Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers just one point behind them. That means Wigan need to strengthen their squad to make sure they stay at the top of the league and so that they can book a quick passage back to the Sky Bet Championship.

And so Wigan are looking to swoop to sign Wilson on transfer deadline day. The 20-year-old winger, who has been capped by Wales once, is one of the highest rated players in the Liverpool academy and is the U23 captain. He made his debut for the Reds at the start of 2017 in the FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle but his most sustained in the first team came with a brief loan spell at Crewe Alexandra back in 2015.

Wilson however has not made a single appearance for Liverpool this season and he is unlikely to make one in the second half of the season as the Merseyside club hopes to secure their place in the top four. And so Wigan are hoping that they will be able to sign him on loan. The Lancashire club knows that he has plenty of talent and that he could be key in their fight for promotion against Blackburn and Shrewsbury Town.
