Millwall to beat Sunderland to the signing of Wolves winger

Wolves winger Ben Marshall is set to sign for Millwall today on loan until the end of the season, according to Sky Sports.

The 26 year-old will undergo a medical today ahead of his move to the Den.

This news will be a blow to Sunderland who have been heavily linked with signing Marshall in this transfer window. They have now lost out on him to Millwall and will have to look elsewhere for signings today.

Marshall is a decent coup for Millwall though. They have had an excellent transfer window so far, signing Jason Shackell on loan from Derby County, club legend Tim Cahill on a free transfer and Harry Tofollo from Norwich City. The signing of Marshall will further bolster their squad and make them a force to be reckoned with for the rest of the season.

Marshall has fallen down the pecking order at the league leaders Wolves this season and has not been part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans. A loan move away is a great opportunity for him to gain some first-team football.

The former Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers man, who can also play right-back as well as right winger, has played over 300 career appearances and knows the Championship very well. He only moved to Wolves last January from Blackburn but that move has not worked out.

He needs to be playing regular first-team football and a loan move to Millwall is a great opportunity for him to get back playing football and to rekindle his career.
