According to Sky Sports Brighton have made Aaron Hughes their first signing of the summer on a one-year contract.
The 34-year-old has signed for Albion on a free transfer after being released from QPR at the back end of last season.
The Northern Ireland international has been applying his trade in the top flight of English football for the last 15 years and Despite his age Hughes made 24 appearances playing for QPR & Fulham last season.
With that experience he will be a massive boost to Brighton’s defence next season, even though he will have to complete with the likes of Gordon Greer and Matthew Upson for the centre half role.
“We wanted to bring another experienced defender, and Aaron fits the bill having played at Premier League, Champions League and international level, I have played against Aaron a few times during my time at Liverpool and also for Finland, and I know his qualities and what he will give us.” ~Hypia explained to the club website.
Hypia also stated that they still have some work to do in terms of recruitment but this first signing is a very strong one for the East Sussex club.
Hughes brings vast experience to his new club.
