Sunderland set to land Liverpool midfielder on loan

Sunderland are set to sign Liverpool’s Ovie Ejaria on loan according to a report from The Sun.

The Black Cats have been keen to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window as they are currently bottom of the Sky Bet Championship and could end up being relegated for the second season in a row. However due to a limited budget, the club are having to look for loan deals rather than permanent ones and so have been scouting the best youngsters that currently play for Premier League sides.

That landed them on the doorstep of Ejaria. The 20-year-old midfielder is currently contracted to Liverpool and is seen as a top prospect after being capped by the England U20s seven times. He was also part of the squad when the England U20s won the U20 World Cup though he did not play in the Final against Venezuela. He is however struggling to break into Liverpool’s first team as he has only made two league appearances for the Reds during this career.

This means Liverpool are willing to loan him out so he can get his first taste of sustained first team football. And Sunderland are the team who are set to sign him as they add another youngster to their squad. Sunderland head coach Chris Coleman is obviously looking to add some youthful energy to a side that has looked out of ideas this season and he is hoping that this gamble of signing these young players will pay off and save them from relegation.
