The protracted transfer saga of George Thorne to Derby, now dubbed ‘The Game of Thornes’ by some fans, continues to dominate the thoughts of Rams supporters.

Midfielder Thorne, confirmed as Derby’s main summer transfer target, has proved a difficult acquisition with West Brom’s owners stubborn in their attempts to keep the player. Two confirmed bids have been rejected by the Baggies to date, along with two transfer requests from the 21-year-old himself.

With the season now just a month away fans are increasingly nervous the Rams will miss out on the dynamic midfielder that impressed whilst on loan last season. However, local newspaper reports accompanied by regular social media hints from Thorne himself, suggest the move is very much still on.

Despite Thorne’s eagerness to move, exemplified by the unusual move of submitted two separate transfer requests, it appears this move will continue to stall until Derby meet the Baggies’ asking price.

With the season rapidly approaching expect this saga to come to a head in the near future, one way or another.
