Aitor Karanka wants to sign Middlesbrough pair for Nottingham Forest

Aitor Karanka wants to sign Middlesbrough duo Adam Clayton and Patrick Bamford for Nottingham Forest, according to the Northern Echo.

The Spaniard has recently been appointed as the new manager of Nottingham Forest and has wasted no time in identifying some targets to try and sign in this transfer window.

He sees Adam Clayton and Patrick Bamford as two ideal signings. He worked with them both at Middlesbrough and now wants to raid the Riverside and sign them again.

Adam Clayton was a key player for Boro during Karanka’s spell at the club. He played a pivotal part in the side who won promotion to the Premier League in the 2015/16 season. However, he has fallen down the pecking order at Boro this season and has been linked with a move away from the club this January.

He has been linked with the likes of Aston Villa, Leeds United and Derby County, but with Karanka now in charge of Forest, a move to Nottingham is a real possibility now.

Bamford, on the other hand, also worked with Karanka at Boro and has also found his first-team chances to be limited this season. He may see a move to Forest as a chance to kick-start his career.

The appointment of Aitor Karanka at Forest is an exciting one for their fans. He has proven with Middlesbrough that he is a talented manager at Championship level. It was a decent coup bringing him in and the possible signings of Adam Clayton and Patrick Bamford would make them a force to be reckoned with.
