Bristol City leading the race to sign Liverpool winger

Championship side Bristol City are leading the race to sign Liverpool winger Ryan Kent on loan, according to The Herald.

The youngster has recently been recalled from his loan spell at Bundesliga side Freiburg and is set to go out on loan again to a Championship club. He only played 6 times in Germany and Liverpool were unhappy with the small amount of game time he was getting.

Kent was heavily linked with a move to a Championship in the summer with clubs such as Leeds United, Birmingham City and Hull City. However, Liverpool took the decision to loan him out to Freiburg which has not worked out.

Kent is highly regarded at Liverpool and is being tipped for a big future at Anfield. However, Jurgen Klopp wants him to be getting regular first-team football to further his development and get him some experience. He has had loan spells at Coventry City and Barnsley in the past.

Bristol City could be his next loan destination. He has also been linked with Sheffield United but the Robins now reportedly lead the race. Lee Johnson’s side have made a great start to the Championship season and find themselves in the Play-Off places.

The potential loan signing of Ryan Kent would be a huge coup for Bristol City. They already have some strong attacking options in Bobby Reid, Jamie Paterson, Matty Taylor etc. so adding Ryan Kent to that list will really make them a force to be reckoned with for the rest of the season.
