Nottingham Forest are understood to be on the verge of unveiling former Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka as their new boss according to BBC Sport.
The 44-year-old Spaniard guided former club Boro to promotion to the English Premier League in his only other managerial role and was well-liked by the club’s fans.
Karanka is poised to take charge of a Forest side which dumped English Premier League giants Arsenal out of the FA Cup on Sunday and after hearing news of his imminent appointment at The City Ground, fans of The Reds were generally pleased with their new arrival.
Can’t wait for @Karanka to start. He will make the players we have even better, and attract players to join us , especially after last night ! #nffc

Unbelievably buzzing for Karanka to be named the forest manager. That’s the most pragmatic managerial decision we have made probably in a decade #nffc

Hopefully with the Jose relationship we’ll get the choice of the Man United crop coming through which currently go elsewhere #nffc karanka

I just want the new manager to embrace and supplement the youth we have. Don’t break it up with loads of signings #NFFC

Seems a reasonable amount of "wouldn't be my first choice" around Karanka's appointment? Interested to know who would be your first choice in that case…? Stand out candidate in our current situation for me. Positive news #NFFC

Ive now done my homework on Aitor Karanka and am happy to welcome him to the City Ground. Considering our league & position, IMO, I dont think we could attract anyone with higher credentials & experience #NFFC

If it is #Karanka & it looks like it is…I’ll be curious to see what he does with this crop of Academy graduates, there are more in the pipeline too by all accounts. I hope he builds the team around them. Sunday showed what we are capable of #NFFC

Karanka will take charge of a Forest side which are currently in 14th position in the Sky Bet Championship table. His first match as The Reds boss is likely to be on Saturday evening when Aston Villa are the visitors to The City Ground.
