Fleetwood Town in talks with Plymouth Argyle midfielder

Fleetwood Town are in talks to sign Plymouth Argyle’s Toumani Diagouraga according to a report from Football Insider.

The 30-year-old midfielder was released by Leeds United in the summer and was quickly able to get a short-term contract with Plymouth. Now that deal is starting to come to a close and thanks to a string of impressive performances, the Pilgrims are keen to get Diagouraga signed onto a new contract which would keep him there until the end of the season. But another team are now ready to snap him up.

Fleetwood are currently in contract discussions with Diagouraga and are hoping to sign him up in the next few days. The Cod Army’s head coach Uwe Rosler is already very familiar with the player having worked with hi at Brentford when the team had started on the good form which would eventually get them promoted from Sky Bet League One. And with Rosler knowing Diagouraga so well, he thinks that he would be an ideal addition to a team looking to break out of mid-table.

The Lancashire side reached the League One play-offs this season and while they haven’t quite repeated that yet this season, they are still playing well and are currently 12th in the table. But Fleetwood want to get back into the play-offs to give themselves a shot at getting promoted to the Sky Bet Championship. With his knowledge of the league and the power that he brings in midfield, Diagouraga could be the signing which makes them rise up the table.
