Oldham Athletic look set to sign Curaçaoan goalkeeper Zeus de la Paz on a 18 month deal, according to Elfvoetbal Magazine.
Zeus de la Paz currently plays for Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC who are an American amateur football club, he signed for the club on the 1st May 2017 and has made 14 appearances for them. The goalkeeper has also featured for his country, making 2 appearances for Curaçao and 8 appearances for u20’s.
Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC announced on their twitter that Zeus de la Paz has departed the club to join Oldham. But Oldham are yet to confirm the signing.
The 22 year old goal keeper started his career at Dutch side PSV where he featured for the club’s u17’s, u19’s and u21’s. Zeus de la Paz also made two appearances for Jong PSV. The goalkeeper is no stranger to English football as in 2015 he signed for Nuneaton Town, who are in the sixth tier of English football.
Oldham have lost two goalkeeper this transfer window as Ben Wilson returned to Cardiff City whilst Jack Ruddy returned back to Wolves. Zeus de la Paz is set to give Oldham Athletic’s 1st choice goalkeeper Johny Placide competition for the number 1 spot.
The goalkeeper told Elfvoetbal Magazine “When I got to the airport, I got a phone call that I could sign on January 1. Apparently I was seen as an amateur player and they were only allowed to sign a contract when I opened the transfer window, but I still wanted to go.”
“I played myself in the picture, which went very well, I participated for three days and the club organized a test contest for me, we played against Burnley U23, but there were also many players from the first team. But they were very satisfied with me, they wanted to capture me and were still trying to find out if it was possible to come sooner, but that was not really possible. “
