Colchester United pick up non league duo

Colchester United have delved into non league to sign both Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and Ryan Gondoh.

The pair have both signed from high flying Bostik North side Maldon and Tiptree. The Jammers are currently sat in 3rd place, with Ogedi-Uzokwe and Gondoh being a huge part of their success.

Both players have signed 18 month deals at the Colchester Community Stadium and will look to challenge for a first team place as the U’s search for a play-off football.

Ogedi-Uzokwe has enjoyed a tremendous campaign thus far having returned from a break from the game. The striker has notched just the 34 goals this season in as many games. The former Enfield man is a country mile ahead of the competition in the race for the golden boot for the division.

Gondoh joins his teammate in making the step into professional football. The 20 year old game through the youth ranks at fellow SkyBet League Two side Barnet but had to dive back into non league footballer after failing to make the cut at the Hive.

Spells with Hendon, Staines Town, Metropolitan Police, Kingstonian and Carshalton Athletic eventually saw the wide midfielder end up at Maldon and Tiptree in the summer of 2017.

Mainly playing on the left hand side of midfield, Gondoh has 12 goals so far this season in just the 29 appearances.
