Lee Bullen labels Sheffield Wednesday’s FA Cup clash with Carlisle United as must win

Sheffield Wednesday interim head coach Lee Bullen has told the Yorkshire Post that their FA Cup clash against Carlisle United is a must win game.

While the FA Cup is often called one of the most prestigious competitions in the world, more and more teams are starting to take the cup less seriously. They are therefore putting out weaker teams that are more likely to lose which then doesn’t bother the manager because then they can concentrate on the league which they believe matters more than a potential cup run.

But one team that won’t be taking the cup lightly are Sheffield Wednesday as their caretaker boss Bullen as said he will be fielding his strongest said for their trip to Carlisle. The club are currently reeling after an embarrassing 3-0 loss to Burton Albion on New Years Day and it appears to have caused a fire in the stomach of Bullen as he aims to make up for a performance that ended with boos and derision from the home fans.

He said:“No chance. If I am still in charge, I will put my strongest team out after that on Monday.”

“It is a great opportunity to give one or two people a game, but I think now we have got to win the game.”

“With a performance like that against Burton, we will have a hard time up at Carlisle. We have got to win the game.”

The match between Wednesday and Carlisle will take place on the 6th January.
