Life is pretty good for Portsmouth right now, as the festive period draws to a close they sit in the play-off places.
However Kenny Jackett has made clear his intentions that he will be strengthening this window. Jackett has started his plans to strengthen by going to his former employers.
Kenny Jackett has captured the loan signings of Connor Ronan and Sylvian Deslandes. With Wolves influx of European players running riot in the Championship, Nuno Espírito Santos, and the hierarchy at the club, were prepared to let the players who aren’t gaining match time the opportunity elsewhere.
Connor Ronan is 19 years old who plays as an attacking midfielder, he is currently the captain of the team’s development squad. He was born in England, but represents Republic of Ireland at international youth level and he made his debut on 17 December 2016, replacing Hélder Costa for the win over Nottingham Forest. He is highly rated by the club and one of their most exciting assets.
Sylvain Deslandes is 20 years old who plays as a central defender. He has represented France at under-18 level. On 31 January 2017, he joined Bury on loan until the end of the season. He returned to Wolves at the end of the 2016/17 season having made no appearances for Bury
With central defenders needed at Fratton Park, as more rumours spread about the future of Christian Burgess, and with creativity in midfield a concern for Jackett, these would address those stated issues early on.
Jackett is said to still have good contacts at the club and that’s why the deals were wrapped up so quickly.
