Dream return for Nicholls as Cobblers thrash Sileby

New signing John Joe OToole’s hat trick was completely overshadowed by, what was a dream return for Alex Nicholls yesterday. After 21 months on the sidelines, Nicholls who endured a  torrid time after a double leg break over 20 months ago, was introduced to the action on the 50 minute mark. He was greeted with the loudest applause of the game, which was only bettered when he cooly rounded the keeper and slotted in his first goal to make it 6-0. The attention he received from the players showed how much this moment meant to everyone, not only the player himself.  He then went on to score two more goals, one of which showed he is over the psychological burden of breaking his leg, where had to slide in and challenge the keeper and defender to get the ball over the line.

All Cobblers fans will be hoping he can return to be the player he was before he suffered the horrendous tackle showed in the photo, and that he will soon be banging the goals in, in the Football League. zzzzzzz
