Windass, Hull City, Championship clubs considering moves for £2 million rated Rangers star

Championship clubs considering moves for £2 million rated Rangers star

At least two Championship clubs are considering a move for Rangers midfielder Josh Windass in January, according to the Daily Record.

Although the names of the clubs who are interested are still yet to be known, there is no doubt that Windass is a man in demand. He has scored 6 goals so far for Rangers this season.

The Scottish Premiership side are believed to be willing to let him go for around £2 million. This would make a tidy profit on the £65,000 they bought Windass for from Accrington Stanley.

Windass was heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox in the summer but remained with the club. Clubs such as Brentford and Hull City were linked with him so they could potentially be back in for him in January. Josh is the son of Hull legend Dean Windass who is now an ambassador for the club, so the Tigers are usually linked with a move for him in transfer windows.

Windass, 23, was born in Hull but spent 10 years as a youngster at Huddersfield Town. He was released in 2012 and signed for non-league side Harrogate Railway Athletic. He was then snapped up by League Two side Accrington Stanley in 2013.

In his 3 seasons with Stanley, Windass scored a combined 23 goals and Rangers swooped to sign him in 2016. Although he does get plenty of game time with them, the rumours of him leaving never seem to go away. It will be interesting to see who in the Championship will move for him. A move to Hull City would be very fitting for Windass.
