Imps boss Cowley looking for early business

Imps boss Danny Cowley is looking to be aggressive in the January transfer window and hopes to have his business done early.

Lincoln have one of the smallest squads in the division and are looking to reinforce in January in order to continue their push for back to back promotions.

Speaking at his press conference, Cowley said that he is looking to get his business done before the Notts County game at Sincil Bank:

“The aim is to get it done as quickly as possible. We’ve got a bit of a game between the Luton game before the Rochdale game.

“That would be an ideal time to embed the players into the group.”

Although Cowley admits to his focus being on the congested fixtures during the festive period, his planning for the window has been done predominantly:

“We knew the amount of recruitment work we could do in this period would be limited. But it is an ever-changing market, things change so quickly in football.”

The Imps have already secured the capture of Ipswich winger Danny Rowe, who joined Cowley’s side on a loan until the end of the season.

Tractor Boys manager, Mick McCarthy praised the attitude of the Cowley brothers when it came to a deal being agreed:

“Danny Cowley rang me up and said he was interested in him and to be fair to them they were the ones that were in first, were straight about it and I said ‘make your offer, what you want to do’ and they did it.

“There have been other clubs interested but they (Lincoln) were right at the very start and I think it’s a good move for him.

“He met  Danny yesterday and he explained to him what he wants from him and where he wants him to play.”

The Imps are set to be active in the window with loans for defenders Sean Raggett and Rob Dickie set to expire with them going back to Norwich City and Reading respectively.
