Doncaster Rovers

Match Preview: Doncaster Rovers vs Oldham Athletic

Doncaster Rovers are set to welcome back former fans favourite Richie Wellens as his squad looks to follow up on their 5-1 win over Northampton Town.

Oldham head into the clash looking to continue their impressive form having only tasting one defeat in their past five league games. Oldham are positioned 16th in league one and a win could see Latics move up the league to a possible 12th position.

Doncaster will be looking to bounce back from a 96th minute Josh Ruffels strike which saw them fall to victim to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Oxford. Doncaster lay in 18th, two places lower than Oldham and three points for Doncaster will see them go level on points with Oldham.

Doncaster’s key man John Marquis told Ifollow Rovers “Our performance levels have been really good of late and some of the results haven’t gone our way lately but this game on Saturday is the perfect chance to bounce back.” Marquis has netted seven times this season and will be looking to add to his account on Saturday.

It’s also a return to the Keepmoat Stadium for experienced Latics midfielder Paul Green (35). The Doncaster legend made 236 appearances for the club scoring 30 goals. Green spent 7 years at Rovers and he played a major role in several promotions with Doncaster.

The last time these sides met it ended in a 2-1 win for Oldham at Boundary Park. Goals from Ryan Flynn and Billy Mckay sent Stephen Robinson’s Oldham into the second round of the FA Cup. Oldham went on to draw Lincoln but was to be stunned by the Imps in a five goal thriller. Oldham entered that game sitting bottom of League 1 and under a transfer embargo for unpaid debts.
