Burnley interested in signing veteran QPR defender

Burnley are interested in signing QPR’s Nedum Onuoha according to a report from the Mail on Sunday via Get West London.

While the 31-year-old defender has done very well with QPR and is currently their club captain, it would be no surprise to see his time at Loftus Road come to an end. His contract is set to expire in the summer and with his wages believed to be some of the highest at the club, it is likely that he would have to take a wage cut to stay with QPR as their budget continues to decrease. However despite that, the club are keen to get him signed onto a new deal.

But hoping to take advantage of the financial situation that QPR are in are Burnley who are now looking to snap him up. The Clarets are impressing everyone in the Premier League and are currently 7th in the league, higher than the likes of Leicester City and Everton. But they know that if they want to stay in the part of the league and perhaps qualify for a place in Europe, they need to strengthen and Onuoha is a player they are looking at.

The defender has plenty of experience in the Premier League from his time with Manchester City and with his wages set to go down at QPR, the chance to return to the North West where he grew up might be too much to turn down. Now the uncertainty is whether or not Burnley will look to get him for a cut price fee in the January transfer window or get him on a free in the summer.
