Chris Coleman wants to make Liverpool duo his first two signings for Sunderland

New Sunderland manager Chris Coleman wants to sign Liverpool duo Danny Ward and Ben Woodburn on loan in January, according to the Sunderland Echo.

The 47 year-old left his role as the manager of the Wales national team to take over at the Stadium of Light. He replaces Simon Grayson who was sacked after a poor start to the season. Coleman faces a tough job with the Black Cats being bottom of the league and is already plotting some signings.

Coleman wants a new goalkeeper and is targeting a loan move for Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward. He knows the 24 year-old well from calling him up for the Wales squad. Ward spent last season on loan at Huddersfield Town and was a key part of the Terriers squad who gained promotion to the Premier League. He has also had loan spells at Morecambe and Aberdeen in the past.

Another player Coleman wants is youngster Ben Woodburn. Again Coleman knows him well from managing him for Wales. The 18 year-old has made six caps for his country. He made history for Liverpool by becoming their youngest ever goal scorer when he scored against Leeds in the League Cup aged 17. He has played ten games so far for Liverpool but may be allowed to leave on loan in January to gain some first-team experience.

Coleman faces a difficult task at Sunderland but the first two players that are being linked with a move to the North East in January are exciting ones for their fans.
