Reading plotting January move for Crystal Palace midfielder

Championship side Reading are interested in a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch, as per a report by HITC Sport.

The 25 year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Premier League side Crystal Palace and could be set to leave the South London club. He spent the latter part of last season on loan with Reading and the Royals are interested in bringing him back to the Madejski Stadium in January.

Mutch nearly joined Championship side Burton Albion in the summer but a move fell through which meant he stayed with Palace. He was frozen out by Frank de Boer at the start of the season and there is not much evidence that their new boss Roy Hodgson will play him much either.

The central midfielder played nine times for Reading last season. He came up through the Derby County academy before leaving for Birmingham aged 15. He made his debut aged 16 in 2008. He went onto play 24 times for the Blues and had loan spells out at Hereford, Doncaster and Watford.

In 2012, Birmingham sold Mutch to Cardiff City. In his first season with the Bluebirds they won the Championship title and were promoted to the top flight. However, they were relegated in their only season there and Mutch moved to QPR. After only 5 months Mutch made the move across London to join Crystal Palace in January 2015.

He has been at Palace ever since but could be set to leave them this January. He has had a number of suitors over the past few months, including Burton, but a move back to Reading is the most likely outcome.
