Newcastle United midfielder keen to reunite with Steve Bruce at Aston Villa

Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame is keen on a move to Aston Villa, as per a report by HITC Sport.

Diame, 30, has gained two promotions in two seasons from the Championship to the Premier League with Hull City and Newcastle. He has a good relationship with current Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce and is keen on a reunion with him at Villa Park.

Steve Bruce signed Diame for Hull City in 2014 from West Ham United. The Tigers were relegated that season but gained an immediate promotion back to the top flight under Bruce via the Play-Offs in 2015/2016 season. Diame bagged 10 goals from midfield that season and scored a stunning goal for the Tigers in the Play-Off final against Sheffield Wednesday.

However, despite promotion Steve Bruce resigned as manager of Hull City in that summer due to a lack of investment from the owners. Diame followed him out of the exit door too, dropping down into the Championship to sign for Newcastle United. The move paid off for Diame as Hull went down and Newcastle won the title.

Diame’s chances with Newcastle have been limited in the Premier League and he is open to a move back into the Championship. Steve Bruce has already reunited with James Chester, Ahmed Elmohamady and Robert Snodgrass at Aston Villa, all of whom he managed during his time with Hull City. Mo Diame could be the next ex-tiger that he signs for the Villans.

Diame is a great player in the Championship and a promotion specialist. He has the ability to change a game, as he proved in the 2016 Play-Off final for Hull, Villa fans should be excited about this potential signing.
