5 potential candidates to become the new manager of Gillingham

League One side Gillingham are still looking for a new permanent manager.  Here are 5 potential candidates:

Steve Lovell- The 57 year-old is a lot of bookies’ favourite for the full-time job. He is currently in temporary charge and has won 4 games out of 6. He made over 200 appearances for the Gills as a player. He has previously managed various non-league clubs like Hastings United and Sittingbourne in the past.

Graham Westley- The well travelled boss has been linked with the Gillingham job. He has previously managed Stevenage, Preston North End, Peterborough United and Newport County. He has been looking for a job since March when he was sacked by Newport.

Keith Millen- The 51 year-old’s name is another that is in the frame. He has worked at Bristol City, Blackpool, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur in various coaching, caretaker manager and assistant manager roles. He may well want to be a manager as his next job.

Martin Allen- Another name that has been mentioned, Allen has been out of work since February when he left Eastleigh. He is a very experienced manager, having been at Barnet, Brentford, Leicester, Cheltenham, Notts County, Eastleigh and even Gillingham before in the past.

Jay Saunders- The 38 year-old is currently in charge of National League side Maidstone. He is seen as one of the most promising managers in non-league and may well be given a job in the league soon.

The clear favourite for the job is Steve Lovell but there are questions as to why they are taking so long to appoint him. Could they be looking at these other candidates?
