Millwall look to potential transfer targets

With Ian Holloway looking to improve his side for the new season, talks with players have rapidly picked up.

Former Everton winger Magaye Gueye has joined the lions on trial and is set discuss a contract with Millwall if he impresses Ollie. The Senegalese midfielder scored only one goal in 39 appearances for the Toffees in fours years after joining from Strasbourg for £1million in 2010.

Ricardo Fuller is also set for talks with the Millwall boss in the early stages of next week. The frontman could possibly have a trial stint at the club before talks escalate. Fuller has scored 100 goals in 390 career appearances.

Another player who has been given the chance to impress at Millwall is PSG attacker Jean-Eudes Maurice. The versatile Haiti international can play on either flank, or as a central striker. But, Holloway who described Maurice as a ‘big winger’, is likely to play him on the right wing. Maurice has only made 52 appearances for the French club since signing in 2008.

Leeds striker Matt Smith is another player who is on Holloways radar. The 25-year-old scored 13 league goals last season and managed to rack up six assists in the process. The Lions first bid for the striker has been rejected, but Holloway wants to push on and aims to sign the frontman before August.

Former West Ham and QPR forward Bobby Zamora is also a possibility but Ian Holloway has already said a deal is unlikely for the 33-year-old, due to his wage demands. Zamora secured the R’s return to the Premier League when he scored a late winner at Wembley in the Play Off Final in May.
