Cardiff City, Cardiff City could sign Venuzuela international on a free transfer

Cardiff City could sign Venuzuela international on a free transfer

Championship side Cardiff City are looking at the possibility of signing defender Rolf Feltscher on a free transfer, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

LA Galaxy are also interested in signing the Venezuala international but he is apparently keen on a move to the Championship. He has been without a club since leaving Getafe in the summer.

Feltscher looked set to sign for Birmingham City in September but a move fell through after Harry Redknapp was sacked. He has still not found a club since but Cardiff City, who are second in the Championship, have shown an interest.

The 27 year-old was born in Switzerland and played for their U21 squad before switching his allegiance to Venezuala in 2011. He started his career with Grasshoppers before moving to Parma in 2010 but struggled to get into their first-team so was loaned out to Padova and Grosetto.

He moved back to Switzerland in 2013 to join FC Lausanne-Sport but moved onto German club MSV Duisburg the year later. After impressing in Germany, Feltscher was rewarded with a move to Getafe in 2016. However, he again found first-team chances hard to come by and was loaned out to Real Zaragoza for the remainder of last season.

Cardiff City are aiming for the Premier League after making a great start to this season under Neil Warnock. They see Rolf Feltscher a potential signing as they look to bolster their ranks for the turn of the new year. The question now is whether he will choose the MLS or the Championship.
