Derby County have secured a deal for Coventry City’s 21-year-old right back Cyrus Christie.

Out of contract Christie leaves financially stricken Coventry to sign a three year deal at the iPro Stadium. City will receive an undisclosed compensation payment for Christie as he is aged under 23.

Steve McClaren swooped to bring in the right back to replace Andre Wisdom, who has returned to Liverpool after a successful loan spell with the Rams last season.

Christie made 116 appearances for Coventry after making his debut aged 17, and will join up with the Derby squad immediately.

“We have been monitoring Cyrus for some time and while there has been a great deal of competition for his signature. We are delighted that he has chosen Derby County for this key stage of his career”, said McClaren.
