Following a weekend during which three Football League managers lost their jobs (Harry Redknapp at Birmingham City, Gary Caldwell at Chesterfield and Michael Brown at Port Vale), the old adage that ‘managers deserve more time’ has been thrown around rather liberally.

It is therefore very important to remind ourselves that there are a small number of Football League managers who have been at their clubs long enough to see the ink dry on their (seemingly meaningless) contracts.
