Posh reveal 2013/14 home kit, as Fergie faces Q&A

Peterborough United have this evening (10/7/14) revealed their new home strip for the 2014/15 season.

The kit was revealed at a special launch party at London Road and was modeled live by Striker Britt Assombalonga, and centre back Gabby Zakuani.

The new strip features a more predominant role for white, a colour that was drafted into the kit last season, mixing with the blue to form an arrowed design at the top of the shirt. Blue and white also form a hooped pattern on the socks.

The event also involved a question and answer with manager Darren Ferguson.

When asked about his views on diving in the game, he outlined his hate for it, and would “punish” any of his players caught doing so.

Ferguson also outlined his delight at having both the London Road Terrace, and the new Moys End stand, open for home fans, saying that two ends full of Posh fans will be “fantastic for my players”.

The Scot was also questioned on some of The Posh’s recent departees, not least Craig Alcock, a player who was rumoured to be close to re-signing for Peterborough a few weeks ago. Ferguson, however, put these rumours to bed with the news that the versatile defender was close to signing for League one rivals Sheffield United.

When questioned on some of Peterborough’s new acquisitions, the manager said the fans will “love” winger Jon Taylor, and that recent non league signing, Ehrun Oztumer has been “wowing in training” with his skills, saying that he can “beat three players with ease”.

Ferguson was also quizzed on where he felt he went wrong last season. The manager was honest and admitted to “tactically over thinking” and that Peterborough are looking to play with “more width” this campaign.

The biggest confidence boost the fans who had paid to see the event could have received from the manager came when he revealed that team spirit in the camp was very similar to when Posh won back to back promotions in Ferguson’s first spell with the club. And if that isn’t reason to be optimistic, I don’t know what is.
