Walsall complete deal to loan in Burnley striker

Walsall have signed Dan Agyei from Burnley on loan for six months as confirmed by the club website.

The 20-year-old striker started his career at AFC Wimbledon but his promise was noted by many and was eventually signed by Burnley. He has made a couple of appearances since he moved to the Clarets but because first team football looks unlikely as any narrow chance of him replacing Andre Gray went as soon as they signed Chris Wood from Leeds United, he needs to go out on loan.

He did ok while out on loan to Coventry City last season when he scored four goals in 16 appearances but now he will be hoping to improve on that now that he has signed a deal with Wimbledon that will keep him there until the January transfer window. This loan should give him a great chance to show the coaches back at Burnley why he should be getting more of a chance in their first team.

Following the completion of the signing, Walsall head coach Jon Whitney said: “He’s somebody we’ve been tracking over the summer,”

“He’s really highly thought of at Burnley and he made his Premier League debut against Liverpool at Anfield last season.

“He went out to Coventry last season and impressed there. He’s been highly sought after by several clubs but we have got the deal done.

“He’s a really good addition and he’ll strengthen the squad. He’s got raw pace and power and he’s got goals in him as well.

“We’re really pleased to get Daniel on board.”
