English Premier League outfit West Ham United have ruled themselves out of the race to sign Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong according to the Sunderland Echo.
The 23-year-old Gabonese born midfield ace has started the season well with The Black Cats and is attracting plenty of transfer interest.
West Ham United have been strongly linked with a move for the player while French club Lyon are also thought to be monitoring the situation closely.
It has now been reported that West Ham United have ruled out submitting a transfer offer for Ndong with The Hammers thought to be focussing on other midfield targets.
Ndong started his career in Tunisia with CS Sfaxien where he won the Tunisian First Division title before joining French club Lorient in January 2015 on a four-year deal. The player took little time to impress at the Stade du Moustoir and Ndong moved to the English Premier League 12 months ago, joining Sunderland in a reported £13.6 million deal.
The midfielder has gone on to make 39 appearances in all competitions for The Black Cats and has scored one goal. Ndong has featured for Sunderland in each of the club’s six competitive matches this season.
Sunderland will not want to lose the player during the current transfer window and news that West Ham United have cooled their interest in Ndong is a real boost for the club.
