Leeds United star wanted by third Premier League club, £15 million rumoured

Leeds United striker Chris Wood is wanted by newly-promoted Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, according to The Mirror.

Brighton are the third Premier League side to show interest in Wood this summer, alongside Burnley and West Brom.  It is rumoured that Leeds are looking for a fee of around £15 million to let last season’s top scorer depart the club.

It was confirmed last week that Leeds had rejected a £12 million bid from Burnley, and would not be encouraging any more offers from the club.  However, it would be interesting to see Leeds’ reaction should Burnley return with a £15 million bid this week.

Wood, 25, is one of Leeds’ key players and will be a vital part of their push for a play-off place this season.  He has played every minute of both games Leeds have played so far this season, already getting a goal and an assist.

Since signing for Leeds in July 2015, Wood has made 87 appearances and scored 44 goals for the club in all competitions.  Last season, Wood bettered his first season’s total of 13 by scoring 30 goals as Leeds narrowly missed out on a play-off place.  This tally was enough for him to win the Championship Golden Boot.

Burnley are in the market for a new striker following the £18.5 million sale of Andre Gray to Watford.  The Clarets got their season off to the perfect start last weekend, beating Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Brighton are also in need of a striker, as they look for enough firepower to keep them in the Premier League this season.  The Seagulls currently have Glenn Murray and Tomer Hemed on their books, but they are not prolific enough.
